My Audio Jack doesn’t have a way for the jumper cables to connect, although it does have prongs. Either that or I’m looking at it wrong. And finally does it matter what colors I plug in where in comparison to the picture?

Today I talked with a friend and found out that his 45 year old son was run over by a large tractor that he was working on. Before he even began to tell me the details, I had already guessed what had happened. Many people have been killed while working on farm tractors and making the decision to connect jumper cables directly to the starter motor as they stand alongside the tractor, in front of the rear wheels. Of course, the tractor is in gear and runs over them before they can even blink. I know what you’re thinking, “Oh, I can do that any day of the week.
Finally, he drove his car right in front of the tractor, popped the hood and as his grandson sat on the tractor seat, connected the jumper cables from the car battery to the tractor starter. The tractor popped, jumped forward and smashed into the car with my friend directly underneath the rear wheels, crushing him to death. I am writing this to ask you to think about this: I’m sorry to say; many posters on TBN clearly have a very low level of expertise as a mechanic.
They do not need to be given this advice, willy-nilly. Please save the heartbreak that their families will have to endure. Here’s the advice to give:
Jump start (vehicle)
When jumpstarting a car you essentially give the dead battery just enough boost to start the engine and then rely on the alternator to charge the battery the rest of the way. When using a battery charger, you allow the battery to charge all the way before it will be used again. This should answer important questions such as what the voltage requirements are for charging your battery and whether or not you should remove it from the vehicle before charging. There will be a manual with your battery charger that provides details for the appropriate use of the charger.

My Jeeps Embarrassing to admit, but jumper cables got hooked up wrong, what to check. Please forgive me as this thread lacks the TJ part of TJ technical forum, but I feel like a dumb jerk for screwing this girls car up and I posted in the electrical forum but its usually pretty dead over there and I want to get her back on the road asap. Long story short was that I went to jump a friends car, it was dark and cold and we were in a hurry and I have never jumped a car with the BMW is I just bought as my DD last week.
So yeah, the cables got hooked up wrong because I saw black cable and assumed that was negative and didn’t check the markings on the battery itself since I didn’t have a flashlight at the time. When we tried to start her car, nothing happened, not even the starter clicking. I got out, noticed the jump cables getting hot and disconnected them and then realized what had happened. After I removed the cables her car ?

Don’t double the capacity on your Power Wheels vehicle if you’re not supposed to Follow the recommended guidelines for your application. Usually the voltages will be different, but more importantly the charge rates will be different and the capacities may be different, thus resulting in a shortened life span.
When connecting batteries in a pack you should try to match the capacities as much as possible to avoid discharging one battery quicker than another. A pack operates at a combined voltage so your one cell that discharges quicker will likely discharge deeper than it may be able to recover from.

Nordost recommends the opposite switching the connect described below. Speaker cable lug positive to upper mid – tweeter positive speaker terminal. Speaker cable lug negative to lower bass negative speaker terminal. In the above case, use the jumper banana termination on the speaker terminal that has the speaker wire lug attached and the jumper lug termination to the open speaker terminal.
This avoids any “lug to lug” connections on the same speaker terminal and should maintain the highest signal transfer integrity between the upper and lower speaker terminals. Nordost recommends connecting the positive speaker lug to the lower speaker terminal and the negative speaker lug to the upper speaker terminal. I’m currently trying the “Audioquest” connection recommendation.

Those extra-long cables will come in handy and make connecting batteries easier if you can’t put two cars directly next to each other.
