Destiny Dominic Im looking to go on a raid. None of my friends play this game so its really hard to find someone to go onto a raid with. My PSN is Sofa Ill raid with anyone willing too. Karis Cottingham Im level 28 and feel like ive hit a bit of a wall. Got no friends ready to raid and dont want to join and enlist on forums. If thats how they wanted to play it they should of introduced forums to the tower so it can be done in game. Same with making clans. That leaves me with very few options for how to play the game. I can either play Cruicible or strikes.

That would suck, right? Welcome to raids in Destiny. Destiny, the hotly-anticipated new game from Bungie , has elements from several different genres. Raids are encounters intended for very large groups of people that can take hours to complete. Raids almost always involve fighting your way through a challenging environment to kill an extremely dangerous boss monster at the end. When the boss dies, it drops very rare loot items like weapons and armor that are immensely powerful.
Bungie hasn’t outright called these activities “raids,” but the word keeps slipping into the conversation between Luke Smith from Bungie and IGN. Probably because if it walks like a raid.

There will be a new feature called Guided Games that is meant to bring players together for challenging activities, but randomly pairing players is something that Bungie feels does not work for its game.

The plot is shallow, filled with characters that are generic, lifeless, and utterly devoid of any reason as to why you might care about them. The main baddy, Gaul, has no motivation for anything he does other than “he’s a bad guy”, no backstory, and no reason for doing anything he does.
The NPC protagonists are lifeless, flat, 2-dimensional objects who serve no purpose except as narrative devices to further what can only generously be called a plot. The voice acting is awful, with the exception of Nathan Fillion, and even he is forced to work with bad, non-sensical writing robots don’t eat, so why a joke about shooting the big baddy in the head and then eating a sandwich?

The way the game has been designed and balanced allows three or potentially six totally disparate players to coordinate perfectly; to communicate through the language of shooting hundreds of aliens in the teeth.
See, when I play Strikes with strangers and admittedly they’re all from the Vanguard Strike Playlist , everyone understands their role within each combat scenario, because they’ve been exposed to hours of Destiny previously. It’s a wonderfully balanced system of problems versus solutions, and even teams of strangers know how to answer the questions asked of them.

There was a lot of stuff to take in from the hour-plus livestream which I’ve embedded below , so I’ve also written up the highlights.
Mercury and the Infinite Forest Curse of Osiris will add two big, all-new areas to the game: Topside, players will be able to explore Mercury’s Plains of Glass. The region surrounding the Lighthouse has become a staging area for Red Legion troops who fled The Almighty – which is ironic, given that The Almighty was tearing Mercury apart for fuel before you disabled it in the campaign. You’ll find all the usual public area stuff here, including patrol missions, chests, and adventures.
Bungie even teased that it’s created a special Public Event just for Mercury – the largest one it’s ever made. Step through a huge portal on the surface of Mercury and you’ll materialize miles away in the Infinite Forest of the Vex. It sounds like a nature preserve, but it’s actually a gigantic subterranean simulator the Vex use to observe all possibilities of the past, present, and future as they hunt for, um, something. The key thing here is that you’ll get to explore Mercury back when it was a lush Garden World of humanity and also see it eons later, in a future where the sun has gone dark and the Vex are all that remain.
These missions will be made of randomized chunks, though Bungie spurned the term “procedurally generated,” emphasizing how each part of the whole has been individually designed. Beyond that initial bummer is a pretty cool idea, though: These will take place in the same general location in this case, on a giant, planet-eating ship but offer new challenges, puzzles, places, and even a new end boss for players to overcome in a somewhat shorter overall experience.
